St. Louis Aces Draft 2007 Team

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-St. Louis, Mo
: The St. Louis Aces welcome back Joni Erlich and Andy Ram for the 2007 Season. Recent Indian Wells Men's Doubles semi-finalists, the pair are readyto play the competitive WTT season for the Aces.

"We protected Joni and Andy last year in the player draft and they were not able to play due to Fed Cup obligations they had made to their country," said GM Dani Apted Schlottman. "We are ecstatic that they can return to play for us this year, their enthusiasm is contagious and perfect for our fun loving fans."

Erlich and Ram will face tough competition on Friday, July 13 when they play Bob and Mike Bryan and the Kansas City Explorers. The Bryans, ranked #1 in the Stanford ATP Double’s Race are WTT veterans, but continue to provide fans with amazing tennis and are incredible examples of American tennis players prospering on the professional tour.

The Aces welcome a new player to the roster, Jasmin Woehr from Germany. Woehr is ranked #56 in women’s doubles on the WTA tour and has recent win at an International Tennis Federation Tournament in Denain, France. She is also on the German Fed Cup team.

Rounding out the squad is Aleke Tsoubanos a 2006 alumnae. A rising star on the tour, this St. Louis native eager to play in front of her hometown fans.

“I’m excited for my second WTT season to begin, it is such a great experience to play in front of my friends and family,” said Tsoubanos.

Tsoubanos, paired with Woehr will be a formidable doubles threat on the court and a perfect compliment to mixed-doubles Wimbledon champion, Andy Ram.

Tennis legend Pete Sampras will round out the Aces season when he visits on July 24, with the Newport Beach Breakers.

“Pete has been playing quite a bit since his tour on WTT last season,” said Aces Owner Dan Apted. “Last season he played injured and we felt our fans didn’t get to experience the hall of famer at his best. With a full year of competition and a hitting practice with Roger Federer last month, Pete seems to be back in the swing of things.”

“Sampras held the world #1 ranking for a record 286 weeks, was ranked in the world top 10 for 12 straight years and in his career amassed a whopping Grand Slam singles championships. In the Aces opinion, this is a great opportunity to bring a living legend to St. Louis again, to play in front of our great fans,” said Apted.
